Who says Halloween is just for kids? Just because
you're too old to go trick or treating doesn't mean you shouldn't
celebrate the holiday. Throw a Halloween bash with a twist and have
the time of your life. Here are some ideas to get you started on
your party planning.
Horror Movie Party
Nothing says Halloween more than a haunted evening with hours of
horror flicks. Take a poll, find out your friends' favorite flicks
and plan an evening in front of the tube. Dim the lights, turn up
the surround sound and prepare for hours of frightful screams. Supply
your guests with plenty of Halloween inspired snacks and let the
show begin.
This may take some planning, but it's worth the work!
The overall party is based on the popular "Clue" board game. The
goal is to figure out the killer's identity with the use of clues.
Start the party mystery by sending an invitation to each guest
with their assigned character name and a single clue.
Throughout the evening guests take turns asking questions
to reveal clues and expose the true murderer.
Add to the fun by having each guest bring an appropriately
named food or beverage. For example, Finger Sandwiches, Bloody
Marys or a Head of Lettuce salad.
Halloween Feast
If horror flicks and costume parties aren't your cup of tea, try
a relaxing dinner party with a creative Halloween menu.
Prepare your guests for the upcoming gathering by sending
an invitation lined with cobwebs or other Halloween staples.
For the menu, use your imagination and create works of art to capture
the holiday spirit. For example:
Print the menu on gray paper cut to resemble tombstones
Serve soups and salads in hollowed, well-scrubbed pumpkins.
Give your punch bowl a helping hand. Fill a latex glove with
water and freeze. Use the frozen creation to keep your punch
cool and surprise an unsuspecting guest.
Prepare "Edible Eyes" for a frightening dessert. Prepare a
batch of marshmallow and puffed rice treats (recipe on cereal
box) Shape mixture into balls 1 to 2 inches across, resembling
the shape of eyes Top off the "eye" with a pastel M&M or other
small candy for the iris. Place a drop of frosting in the center
of the candy for the pupil.
Whatever party theme you chose, make sure you decorate for the occasion.
